Abella D’Adamo (b. 1999) is an emerging multidisciplinary artist from Melbourne, Australia. Abella’s practice spans over the mediums of airbrush painting, illustration, videography, styling, and direction.
Abella’s endeavours to create an interactive experience when viewing her work. Interested in hypnotisation, Abella uses vortexes and portals in her work to seduce her viewers. Whether that be through illusory psychedelic patterns, exploring the erotica of artificial food aesthetics, and the complexities of objectification in her hypersexual figurative characters, her practice aims to create a pulsating quality that encourages viewers to become aware of their own lust, discomfort, euphoria or darkness.
Researching subcultural aesthetics of gothic & hip hop fashion, psychedelic album artwork, erotic manga illustration, science fiction films and video games, Abella creates a visual language in her work that can be expressed through various mediums. Having a dual practice as an artist who exhibits in galleries, Abella also does freelance fashion graphics, advertising, and styling, collaborating with brands like Maroske Peech, Underground Sundae, and Hoddle. She is also recently expanding into designing bandmerch for Melbourne post-punk band NPCEDE, and making music videos.
Abella currently resides in New York, USA. She is the Exhibitions Coordinator/Curator at WHAAM! in Chinatown, NYC, run by Anatoly Kirichenko.
